Meet Santa on the Shipley Glen Tramway!

Shipley Glen Tramway, Higher Coach Road, Baildon, BD17 5RH / Prod Lane, Baildon, BD17 5BN

First opened in 1895, Shipley Glen Tramway is Britain’s oldest working cable tramway. Saved from closure in 1982, it is run entirely by volunteers, and offers a low cost, fun adventure for all, right here on our doorsteps!

The bottom station, located just off Higher Coach Road, opposite Robert’s Park, is a few minutes walk from the World Heritage Site of Saltaire and the Leeds Liverpool Canal. From here, you can ride the Tramway through scenic woodland to reach the top station on Prod Lane. A short walk leads you to Shipley Glen and the Bracken Hall Countryside Centre.

The Tramway is open on Sundays from 12-4pm from Boxing Day until the Easter weekend. For the rest of the year, it’s open on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays from 12-4.30pm.

A single journey on the Tramway costs just 30p for children and £1 for adults. Return journeys cost 50p for children and £2 for adults, which, in my opinion, is an absolute bargain!

There is a small shop at the top station which sells cold drinks and sweets, and a replica Edwardian shop and museum at the bottom station.

Our kids love riding the Shipley Glen Tramway! Look out for the Santa Specials during December and the Easter Bunny Hunt at Easter.
