Discover Hidden Gems in Heaton Woods!

A few weeks back now we visited Heaton Woods for the first time. We hadn’t been before and didn’t really know where we were going or what was there, but we treated it as an adventure and, in doing so, stumbled upon some brilliant finds!

We parked on Park Drive and entered the woods through the gate to Renold Wood.

From here we took a random walk through the woods… Eventually coming across a clearing which revealed a wooden adventure play area.

A more direct route to this would be to walk straight ahead for a couple minutes on entering the woods through the Renold Wood gate, but then turn right down a grassy hill, which will lead you straight to the play area.

Alternatively, enter the woods via Aireville Avenue and walk straight ahead until you come to a gate signposted Rosse Woods – you will then see the adventure playground.

And what a lovely little playground it is too! A little known hidden gem, tucked away in the woods.

Next to the playground, you’ll also find Sean’s Ponds – complete with dipping platform.

If you like quiet and possibly having the place to yourself, then consider a visit to Heaton Woods – it definitely gets a thumbs up from us!
