Do you have a budding ballerina, a dancing diva or a wannabe performer in the family? If so, read on to discover more about the fantastic selection of dance and performing arts classes available for children as young as 18 months old (and adults too!), at the Deana Morgan Academy in Shipley.
Founded in February 1999 by Deana Morgan, the Deana Morgan Academy (also known as DMA) boasts three beautiful state of the art dance studios and a huge and varied timetable of over 60 classes a week. There are too many classes to list here individually, but we’ve put together an overview below to give you a good idea of what’s generally on offer.
18 Months – 2 Years
- Budding Ballerinas
- Tiny Tappers & Jazzabelles
- Tiny Street Divas
- Junior Street Dance
- Drama & Choir Workshops
Deana is also looking to start up a new Junior Performing Arts Workshop aimed at children aged 5-7 years old. This class will run on Thursdays from 4-4.30pm, subject to sufficient enquiries, so please get in touch now to register your interest!
Dance for fun or to pursue a career
Although most children attend classes at DMA for the sheer fun and enjoyment of learning to dance, DMA is also the place to train if you want to pursue a career in dance.
As well as attending dance and performing arts classes, students can also study for street dance, IDTA theatre and musical theatre examinations, attend local and national dance competitions and perform in productions at well known locations such as the Alhambra, the Royal Albert Hall and even Disneyland Paris!
In need of some inspiration?
Former DMA dancer and ex member of pop band Girls Aloud, Kimberley Walsh, is one of Deana’s many former students who have gone on to work professionally within the performing arts industry. Others join big name West End productions or train intensively with companies such as the Northern Ballet Theatre and the Royal Ballet School.
