Roberts Park, Higher Coach Road, Saltaire, Shipley, BD17 7LU
Roberts Park, originally a private park known as The People’s Park, was designed by William Gay for Titus Salt and first opened on the 25th July 1871. It was later donated to the people of Bradford.
In 2001, Saltaire was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and with the help of lottery funding and other grants, the park has now been refurbished and restored to the stunningly beautiful park that we all enjoy today.
Roberts Park comprises a footpath, which surrounds the park, as well as a grand promenade, and is accessible to all. It also boasts lawned areas, a cricket pitch, bandstand, children’s play area and skate park. The River Aire runs through the park and the Leeds Liverpool Canal and The Boathouse Inn are located just outside the park.
The Half Moon Café, currently closed for refurbishment following the Boxing Day floods, is situated in the heart of the park and sells quality coffee, teas, Yorvale ice cream and a range of home made hot and cold dishes. Seating is available both inside and out, as well as baby-changing facilities and toys and books to help keep the little ones busy.
A small number of designated parking spaces, plus on road parking on Coach Road.
