Northcliffe Park & Norman Rae Playing Fields – Shipley

Northcliffe Park, Bradford Road, Shipley, BD18 3DE

Park History

Sir H Norman Rae MP purchased and gifted the fields and woods that now comprise Northcliffe Park to the Shipley Urban District Council to be used as public playing fields for the benefit and enjoyment of all. A plaque on the main gate commemorates their opening on 12th June 1920.

Northcliffe Park is made up of both Northcliffe Woods and the Norman Rae Playing Fields. Here you will find a fantastic recently built fenced in wooden play area, as well as some older playground equipment, such as swings and a climbing frame, a little higher up in the park. Also for public use are the bowling greens, the tennis courts and sports pitch.

Located in Northcliffe Woods, the Northcliffe Miniature Railway, runs most Sunday afternoons from 1.30-4pm from Easter to the end of September. Please visit the website for directions and more information.

A small number of designated parking spaces are available outside the main park entrance on Bradford Road.
